Achievement

At Woodlawn School ‘achievement’ is not just data and we recognise and showcase this in all kinds, at all levels. We are committed to enabling and supporting our pupils to reach their full potential in all aspects of learning.

At the same time we aspire to address underachievement at the earliest possible opportunity, to ensure that systems are put into place to promote and develop learning.

There is systematic and early use of data and other information to identify pupils who have barriers to their learning and to ensure that personalised learning is put into place.

Pupil Progress meetings between teachers and the Achievement Leader take place when under achievement is evident so intervention can be put in to practice.

The use of attainment data and target setting is fundamental to a pupil’s progress. Although assessment is continuous throughout the year staff enter attainment data in to our systems every term. This is in turn entered in to the North Tyneside tracker that highlights successes and identifies underachievement. Targets for individuals are created using Progression guidance.

Assessment/Accreditation

If appropriate pupils take external assessment at Key stage 1 and 2. Though by the nature of our pupil’s numbers accessing these assessments is usually low.

At Key stage 4 pupils undertake a variety of courses and access many accredited subjects in English, Maths, Science and ICT . At Key stage 5 pupils continue to access many courses and gain further accreditation at various levels in English, Maths, ICT, Photography, Enterprise, Sport, History, Roadwise and PSD.
