Vision & Values

Woodlawn Vision:

Our vision at Woodlawn is to create a secure, vibrant, supportive learning environment in which our

whole school team, in collaboration with parents, governors and the community, educate our children,

value their individuality, encourage them and help them to ensure they leave us happy and healthy prepared

adults, ready to take their next steps in life……

Woodlawn Ethos:

At Woodlawn School pupils come first and our priority is to deliver high quality teaching and learning whilst at the same time providing rich and truly enjoyable learning experiences for our pupils. Everything we do as a school is to ensure that the pupils achieve their very best.

We work in multi - professional teams to deliver integrated education and therapy through the school day. The professionals supporting pupils and staff to deliver the integrated approach include physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists and the Educational Psychologist. All of our pupils benefit from attending a school that celebrates success and challenges pupils to achieve to reach their potential. We want every pupil to be successful; to reach for success from the very first day they join us and throughout their school lives so that when they leave us, they have a love of learning for the rest of their lives.

Woodlawn Values:

  • We value the way in which all children are unique, and our curriculum promotes respect for the views of

  • each individual child, as well as for people of all cultures in our community

  • We value the spiritual, moral, intellectual and physical growth of each person

  • We organise our curriculum so that we promote co-operation and understanding.

  • We aim to enable each person to be successful, and we provide equal opportunities for all the children in our school.

  • We value our environment, and we aim, through our curriculum, to teach respect for our world, and how we should care for it for future generations, as well as our own.

  • We value parents and work in partnership with them to enrich the curriculum. Parents are informed about the curriculum through topic letters, homework and curriculum workshops, and are positively encouraged to become involved.

  • We see the language approach to the curriculum as a vital means to encourage pupils to be independent, assertive and make choices.

Core Values:

Through sharing our 'Vision and Values' we have chosen 'core values' for our school. These core values underpin the British Values of democracy, law, liberty, tolerance and mutual respect.
